M. Tech. Computational Biology
Computational biology involves the development and application of data-analytical and theoretical methods, mathematical modeling and computational simulation techniques to the study of biological, behavioral, and social systems. The field is broadly defined and includes foundations in computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, biochemistry, chemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, anatomy, neuroscience, and visualization
Each student admitted for this course will be provided a stipend of Rs.8000/- per month.
Fund & Support
The Centre is offering the M.Tech. Computational Biology course from the year 2010 as a network teaching programme in collaboration with Anna University fully funded by Department of Biotechnology(DBT), Govt. of India.
The students are admitted to both Universities by a common all India entrance examination conducted by Pondicherry University in the month of May every year (last week). The advertisement of the course will be released along with the other courses of Pondicherry University in the month of March every year. Candidates should give their order of preference of University while applying. The allotment of candidates to each University will be made on merit and choice of the University furnished by the candidate in the application.

Duration - 2 years
Intake - 15 per University
Every year the course will be commence in the month of July. 30 Students will be admitted to this program. Among 30 selected students 15 students will be admitted to each University on the basis of students entrance mark and their preference. Reservation as per government of India norms.
- Minimum of 55% of marks in Master’s degree in any relevant area of Bioinformatics/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Plant Biology/ Botany/ Animal Biology/ Zoology for Pondicherry University
- Minimum of 55% of marks in B.Tech/B.E degree in Industrial Biotechnology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Food Technology, Bioinformatics, Chemical Engineering, Leather, Bioengineering, Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering for both Anna University and Pondicherry University
