International Conference cum Workshop on

Global Summit on Innovative Drug Design, Discovery, and Translational Research”

29-31 October 2025

The Department of Bioinformatics, Pondicherry University and Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery Society (BIDDS), are partnering to organize this 3-day International Conference cum Workshop. The aim of the scientific gathering is to address key issues and the ways to overcome the existing gaps in various stages of drug discovery, through efficient translation research involving computational drug design, discovery biology, and pre-clinical drug development.

Pondicherry University

Pondicherry University is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in October 1985. It is an affiliating University with a jurisdiction spread over the Union Territory of Puducherry, Lakshwadeep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The University’s objectives are to disseminate and advance knowledge by offering teaching and research facilities, to make provisions for studies in French and integrated courses in Humanities and the Sciences, and to promote interdisciplinary studies and research.

The University’s motto is ‘Vers la lumière’ meaning ‘towards the light’. The main campus is located at Kalapet, 10 kms from the town of Puducherry, in a serene and beautiful campus of 800 acres adjoining the scenic Bay of Bengal.

The University also has campuses at Karaikal and Port Blair which currently offer P.G. and Doctoral programmes.
The University has entered into MoUs with a good number of reputed International Institutions in India and abroad for collaboration and faculty development.

Department of Bioinformatics

The Department of Bioinformatics was started as distributed information sub-centre funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India in the year 1991 and was upgraded to a full fledge Centre in 2001. It was conferred Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics by the Department of Information Technology (DIT), Govt. of India in 2007. The Centre is elevated to the level of Department from August 2021. The department offers B.S (Hons), M.Sc & Ph.D programmes in Bioinformatics and M.Tech Computational Biology with the support of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The department received funds under UGC-SAP and DST-FIST programs.

Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery Society (BIDDS)

The Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery Society (BIDDS) is an Indian academic society for Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Drug Discovery. It has been registered under the rule 8 of the Tamil Nadu society’s registration Act, 1975 and was proposed by Dr. S. Subbiah, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University at University’s Bioinformatics department. BIDDS was founded to foster research and collaboration in the fields of bioinformatics, computational biology, and drug discovery. Recognizing the growing importance of bioinformatics in life sciences, BIDDS aims to provide a platform for scientists, researchers, and students to discuss and explore innovative drug design approaches using advanced computer-aided technologies.
